The title for this work, ‘Twende’, means ‘let’s go’ in Swahili. In 2016 I watched the wildebeest migrate across the Masaai Mara. I thought of cave paintings as I watched this amazing phenomenon and I wanted to create a reference to them, using my photine technique. Back in my studio I experimented with silver emulsion, dribbling it over the bronze plate – I wanted to create the effect of weathered limestone cave walls.
