Looking up towards Mount Speke from the rainforests of the lower slopes, the Bujuku River is seen on the bottom right. This image is from my first trip to the Rwenzoris, when our party had to turn back after four days as the result of an earthquake. The following year’s attempt was severely affected by characteristic rains – the name Rwenzori translates as ‘rainmaker’.
